2 x gold for Christine Schmit at Lux Open 2011

The 3d International Lux Open took place on May 15, 2011 at the sport center “René Hartmann” in Dudelange (Lux.). 350 competitors from 17 nations participated at the tournament.

Contrary to the past two editions, this year’s Lux Open was for high graduated competitors only. This increases considerably the quality of the competition on the four fighting areas. A high level of Taekwondo was presented to the numerous spectators during the whole competition day.

Romain Dicken received a lot of compliments for the perfect organization of the event and the good and friendly atmosphere he was able to create. “It is great meeting friends from all over the world in Luxembourg”, said Romain Dicken who is truly satisfied with the fair-play of the teams.

For Luxembourg, teams from Bettembourg, Diekirch, Dudelange, Esch/Alzette, and Larochette participated with a total of 50 competitors. Overall, 20 medals were awarded to competitors from Luxembourg.

Players of the day:

- We would like to emphasize the excellent performance of Christine Schmit (15) who started and won in both categories, junior -63 kg and senior -67 kg. Congratulations!
- The efforts Anna Bidinger put in hard training during the last months finally paid out. She won the category senior +67 and made a 3d place in the category +63 kg. Congratulations.

The LTA is delighted to announce the appointment of Gianni Cappellano as new President on February 19, 2013. Gianni Cappellano holds the 3d dan in Taekwondo and trains in the clubs of Esch/Alzette and Junglinster.
