No medals for LTA team at Austria Open

Innsbruck (A)

4 June 2011

With 1100 competitors, “Austria Open 2011” was one of the biggest challenges for the LTA team. For most competitors, this A-class championship marked the end of a long season.

- Schmit Christine lost her first fight in the category junior -63 kg against a member of the German national team. Christine also started in the category -68 kg where she lost her fight against a member of the Serbian national team.

- Zangarini Lisa won her first match against Germany and lost the second one against the European champion from Germany.

- Schackmann Lucie lost her first fight against Netherlands.

- Zec Emma lost her first fight again a member of the French national team.

Player of the day:

This was the first A-class tournament for the Jeurissen Wiebe, 15 years of age. Although he lost his first fight in the category junior heavy-weight against Poland, he proofed excellent fighting skills.

Head of team: Romain Dicken

Many thanks to Elodie Tavares for her help the whole weekend. We would like to express our gratitude towards “TKD Spirit Esch/Alzette” for making it possible that Christine Schmit starts in two categories.

Unfortunately, we have to report that people from Luxembourg – not member of the LTA – tried very hard to prevent our sportsmen from participating at this tournament. Thanks to the fair-play and true spirit of the international Taekwondo-family, our sportsmen could start.
